On Friday, 3-Star defensive tackle Sean Sevillano gave his public commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and its 2024 football recruiting class. Despite his 3-Star ranking, Sevillano had a very impressive offer list, and chose the Irish over finalists such as the Ohio State Buckeyes, Auburn Tigers, and Miami Hurricanes.

A uber-productive interior lineman that will crash gaps and create negative plays. Totaled 22 sacks and 50 tackles for loss as an 11th grader. Naturally low center of gravity allows him to get up and underneath blockers while a powerful lower half allows him to drive them out of the way. Has worked out of a variety of different alignments over the years and even been featured every now and then in a two-point stance, but physical makeup suggests that he will be a 1 or 3-technique on Saturdays. Might lack the desired reach, but active hands make it easier for him to get off blocks and help make stops. Isn’t the type of prospect that’s going to blow many away with his testing numbers, but doesn’t lack effort and can move plenty of iron in the weight room (squats 600 pounds and deadlifts 700 pounds). Should be viewed as a potential impact player in the middle at the Power Five level. Could work his way into the backend of a rotation rather early as he’s already got a college-ready body and is believed to be hovering right around 6-foot-2, 315 pounds.
Sevillano is the 17th commitment for Notre Dame’s 2024 class and the only one from Florida (which makes 12 different states represented in this class). The class is currently ranked #3 in the nation according to the latest 247 Team Composite Rankings.

This commitment was a trade-off for Owen Waffle (whether it's publicly admitted or not). In truth, the thing that I keep hearing is that Sevillano was highly coveted by the Irish — even more so than Waffle’s commitment. So I guess we will see how this all shakes out in a few years.

A really nice pick-up for the Irish and Sevillano is a player that I fully expect to rise quite a bit in the rankings over the next six months.
