Notre Dame Football Recruiting: 4-Star Texas EDGE Loghan Thomas commits to the Irish

Notre Dame got the word they were waiting on Wednesday evening when 4-Star EDGE Loghan Thomas gave his public commitment to the Fighting Irish.

The 6’3” 210 pounder from Katy, Texas, chose the Irish over his other finalists that included the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Georgia Bulldogs, and Arizona Wildcats. Thomas also held notable offers from the LSU Tigers, Texas Longhorns, USC Trojans, and many others.

247 Evaluation:

A greener edge player with adequate burst and a powerful upper half that excels in backside purist. Quickly made a name for himself winter of junior year when he was named MVP of the National Combine. Tested in the upper percentile that day, clocking a 4.75 in the 40-yard dash on what is traditionally a slower track. Also turned heads with a 4.5 in the short shuttle to go along with a 31.5-inch vertical jump. Has experience working out of both a two and three-point stance. More of a linear pass rusher at this stage as he generates plenty of momentum while coming downhill. Equipped with a few different moves, but likes to use a long arm out on the perimeter to find leverage. Capable of sifting through traffic and keying in on the football, but must get better anchoring and holding his ground. Needs to get more consistent, especially after production dipped a bit as a junior, but stretches of play suggest that he can make a difference at the Power Five level if it all clicks. Already pretty muscular, but still likely to undergo a physical transformation once at the school of his choice and fill out a frame that’s hovering right around 6-foot-3, 210 pounds.

Thomas solidifies Notre Dame’s 2024 class as the current #4 ranked group in the country according to the 247 Team Composite. With a big senior year, Thomas could see his stock rise even higher inside the top 150 in the country.

Thomas is exactly the type of EDGE Notre Dame is looking for, and the type it desperately needs. He’s not a DE that could grow into the strongside or defensive tackle — this is a pass rusher.
