Winning a college basketball game is tough enough — but the Notre Dame Fighting Irish continually make it harder for themselves in season one of the Micah Shrewsberry era. Notre Dame just dropped a tough game to NC State at home in a contest that only saw the Irish trail for about 1 second during the entire game. Giving up offensive rebounds was a major reason for that late collapse, and it’s hard to see a real answer to that issue this season.
Still... things could feel a lot better of Notre Dame can get the job done at home against the Duke Blue Devils. The 13th ranked Blue Devils aren’t the most physical team, but the Irish will definitely need to be on top of their game on offense to make any type of upset possible.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Irish are a 14.5 point underdogs against the Blue Devils with an OVER/UNDER of 133.5.
DUKE BLUE DEVILS
Head Coach: Jon Sheyer (2nd year)
Season Record: 10-3 (1-1 ACC)
Key Players: Kyle Filipowski C (17.5 ppg), Jeremy Roach G (14.5 ppg), Mark Mitchell F (12.0 ppg)
Quick Overview: It’s Duke — so of course this is going to be a ridiculously tough game for the Irish. This isn’t, however, one of those elite Duke teams that we often think about. The Blue Devils have already dropped three games this year. Two of those losses came on the road, and in back-to-back games (Georgia Tech and Arkansas). From top to bottom, the Blue Devils are an incredibly sound team and can pile on points in a hurry.
