After Notre Dame got blown out at home against The Citadel, Micah Shrewsberry went OFF during the postgame press conference about his team and what they needed to do moving forward. While Saturday’s matchup was just one data point — it’s a pretty important one, and against a program that the Irish have traditionally struggled to beat.

Notre Dame beat the biscuits out of the Virginia Cavaliers inside Purcell Pavilion, 76-54. J.R. Konieczny and Carey Booth each scored 17 points to lead Notre Dame on 574 Day in South Bend.

The Fighting Irish got a big win at home over ACC foe Virginia, 76-54. J.R. Konieczny and Carey Booth each scored 17 points to lead Notre Dame. Markus Burton finished the afternoon with 15 points and 8 assists for the Fighting Irish. Reece Beekman led Virginia with 15 points and 4 assists.

The Irish started the game off with a 13-0 run and mostly never let up throughout the game. Notre Dame shot 51% from the floor, and along with Konieczny and Booth, they got a double-digit scoring from Markus Burton (15) and Kebba Njie (10).

Notre Dame improves their record to 6-7 on the season and 1-1 in ACC play. The Irish have two more homes games to wrap up this 6 game homestand, and next up is the NC State Wolfpack.
