He’s special

On Tuesday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish secured a very valuable player from the transfer portal. Marshall Thundering Herd wide receiver, Jayden Harrison, gave his commitment to Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame Football.

Harrison began his collegiate career in Nashville in 2019 with the Vanderbilt Commodores. After redshirting in 2019 and very little playing time in 2020, Harrison transferred to Marshall before the 2021 season. As a wide receiver at Marshall, Harrison put together a fairly modest 64 receptions for 770 yards and 3 touchdowns from 2021-2023.

It’s Harrison’s special teams play, however, that should have fans very excited. The 5’9” 195 pounder may lack ideal size — but he is a burner. His speed and determination on the field earned him a spot as a first-team All-American as a kick returner. Harrison took two kicks back for touchdown in 2023 and averaged over 30 yards a return.

Harrison chose the Irish over his other finalist — the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders.

This is a fantastic pickup for Notre Dame that may fly under the radar a bit during spring, but once football is played and Harrison is back there returning kicks, Irish fans will definitely take notice.

Welcome to South Bend Jayden.
