Notre Dame and wide receivers coach Chansi Stucky parted ways just days ago, and the Irish didn’t take long to replace him. According to 247’s Matt Zenitz and Tom Loy, the Irish are set to hire the WR coach of the Wisconsin Badgers, Mike Brown.

Marcus Freeman and Mike Brown worked together for two years under Luke Fickell with the Cincinnati Bearcats. While there will be some that roll their eyes about this type of hire (former coworkers) because we saw so much of it during the Brian Kelly era, I think the hire is pretty solid, and we should bear witness to some greater communication between the head coach and the receivers coach. Communication was reported to be an issue at the end of Stucky’s time in South Bend.
Brown will have his work cut out for him right away as the Irish need to replenish a WR room that has been hit hard by the transfer portal. Still — there is talent in South Bend right now, and freshman Micah Gilbert and Cam Williams will look to do what Jaden Greathouse and Rico Flores did as freshmen in 2023. Notre Dame is also reported to be hitting the transfer portal hard to add more to the group before spring, and good news could be on the way.
