TRIPLE-OPTION: Saying goodbye to Notre Dame’s Audric Estime

But another family member is sticking around

On Thursday, we had the very essence of good news vs bad news for the Notre Dame Football roster. This Triple Option only has two reads...

I LOVED YOU MORE THAN ANYONE

We knew before the season began that this was likely the last ride for running back Audric Estime. Most top backs never make it to their senior year thanks to the nature of the position both in terms of physicality and value in the NFL, and Audric Estime is definitely one of the top backs in college football — Doak Walker Award be damned.

I spoke about this on the most recent Earned 5-Star Podcast, but Audric Estime was MY guy. From the moment his name became a possibility, I did my best to flip the conversation and mood about losing out on Will Shipley and began to prepare for the reign of King Estime.

He was everything I hoped he would be as a running back, but his personality and character is what put a dent in a lot of hearts.

Good luck on your journey to the NFL Audric.

ONE MORE CAMPAIGN

There was some really great news on Thursday. Defensive lineman Rylie Mills announced that he was staying in South Bend for one more year — which also means he’ll be playing in Notre Dame’s Sun Bowl game against the Oregon State Beavers.

Notre Dame’s defensive line should be a big strength of the team next season, and Mills will be a very big part of that unit. We’ve been waiting on Rylie to “blow up” for a couple of years now thanks to his freakish size and athleticism. He looks like he’s finally ready to make that next step now that he has a home at the 3 technique, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds next season.
