There was some fantastic news for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish that was announced on Sunday. Defensive tackle Howard Cross will return to South Bend in 2024 to play football for Notre Dame.

Cross was one of the more productive defensive tackles in the country last year, and after 12 games in the books, PFF has Cross rated as the second best defensive player on the Notre Dame football team (Jack Kiser is #1).
Cross is a guy that does his job on almost every snap, and in 2023, he accumulated 64 tackles with 6 TFL and a sack. His play, however, went far beyond the normal stats as he was an absolute problem for any offensive lineman that lined up across from him.
With the return of Cross, Notre Dame is — at least on paper — set to return 4 of the starting front 7 on defense with Jordan Botelho, Rylie Mills, and Jack Kiser all believed to be coming back for one more year.
