Notre Dame Football: Tight end Holden Staes to enter the transfer portal

I mean... why not? Am I right?

It’s transfer portal season for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the rest of college football. There will be many, many names that enter the portal, and the Irish won’t be immune to a large handful of players seeking a chance to play elsewhere. On Friday, Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes announced that he will be entering his name in the transfer portal despite being a tight end at the school that is the best place for tight ends.

Staes led all Irish tight ends with 4 touchdown receptions this year and was only behind Jaden Greathouse for the overall team lead. A lot of his production came in the beginning of the season, and we saw less and less of him towards the end of the year. While Mitchell Evans is definitely TE1 on this team, a player like Staes was certainly wanted/needed for the 2024 campaign.

Good luck to Staes wherever he may land.
