The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team had only one game this Thanksgiving weekend, with the Boston College Eagles visiting South Bend on Black Friday. Notre Dame had started conference play strong with wins in 7 of their last 9 games coming into the matchup. Boston College came out strong though and smothered the Irish from start to finish, coming out with a 6-1 win on the road.
Game Summary: Notre Dame 1 - Boston College 6
The first period was a fairly even matchup in everything but goals. Notre Dame actually won the shot share 14-10 but Boston College scored twice in the period and led after the first 20 minutes.
If the first period was evenly matched the second period was not. Boston College dominated the offense and took 21 shots to Notre Dame’s 5. The Eagles scored 3 goals and were up 5-0 with 20 minutes to go.
Boston College added a sixth goal a few minutes into the third period and the game stayed that way until Notre Dame finally broke the shutout with under 2 minutes remaining when Landon Slaggert scored his team leading 10th of the season. The game ended after that though, with the Irish losing at home 6-1.
