With a college football program as long and as storied as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, there are an incredible number of dates and games that are talked about year after year.
Whether it’s a day of great joy like in October 1988 against the Miami Hurricanes, or a few months later when the Irish took down the West Virginia Mountaineers — these are days of great joy that are celebrated all the time by the fanbase and the university.
On the flipside there are the days that were gut-wrenching like in November of 1993 against the Boston College Eagles or the theft that was the 1991 Orange Bowl against the Colorado Buffaloes.
I have a different date in mind — a date that I absolutely obsess over given the fact of just how different it could have made things for the program today.
