Keys was expected to play a big role this season, and had a very strong offseason in the spring and in fall camp. He had been listed as the backup slot receiver behind Avery Davis, and the backup punt return behind Matt Salerno (a position in which Kyren Williams played the entire game against Florida State) but he really didn’t see much action on Sunday.
Keys will graduate this December and will have two years of eligibility remaining. It’s possible that Keys returns next year, but the most likely situation is that he transfers somewhere that has immediate playing time available — much like Michael Young did with the Cincinnati Bearcats.
A thin position group gets thinner with his departure, and to be honest... I’m not sure what to make of it all just yet.
