Notre Dame Football Recruiting: 5-Star Sonny Styles includes the Irish in his top 5

As much of a “gotta get” as any player in the class

On Thursday, 2023 5-Star athlete Sonny Styles released his top 5 list, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish made the cut. Along with Notre Dame, the spectacular Styles from Pickerington, Ohio, also included; the Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Clemson Tigers, and Florida Gators.

Styles, of course, is the younger brother of current Irish freshman wide receiver Lorenzo Styles. The Styles brothers are the sons of Lorenzo Styles Sr. who was a standout on defense with the Buckeyes.

With Lorenzo junior already at Notre Dame with Marcus Freeman, I strongly believe there is at least a slight lean towards the Irish at the moment. Any lead right now, however, doesn’t mean much since Sonny can’t sign with a school until December of 2022. There is a lot of time between now and then, and a lot of visits, calls, and moving parts. I do feel like this is mostly a Notre Dame VS Ohio State battle — but if Sonny and his family are fine with him not going to the same school as his brother, I wouldn’t be surprised if the other three make this a bigger battle.
