The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are ready to take on the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday, and have released their depth charts. Notre Dame had a handful of position battles over the course of spring, summer, and fall camp. A mostly healthy team created some great competition, and this is how it all shook out to start the season.

We already knew that Jack Coan had won the starting job at quarterback, so no new revelation there. Kevin Austin won the job (no “or” there) at wide receiver over Joe Wilkins, and that should really excite fans as Notre Dame looks to be much more dynamic in the passing game this year. Seeing a true Freshman starting at left tackle is still a little strange, but Blake Fisher has been there since spring — which says a lot about his talent.

Houston Griffith is finally a starting safety for the Irish. With the loss of Marist Liufau, JD Bertrand takes the starting job at the WILL with senior Shayne Simon behind him. Clarence Lewis keeps his spot as the starting field cornerback over TaRiq Bracy. At the boundary corner, Cam Hart is officially the starter with Ramon Henderson backing him up. The depth all along the defensive line is incredible as the Irish have a true 3-Deep up front.

No surprises on special teams. Walk-on receiver Matt Salerno is already a veteran of the return game, so seeing his name as the starting punt returner and kick returner alongside Chris Tyree makes sense.
