The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have done quite well during the 2022 recruiting cycle. As it stands right now, Notre Dame has the #3 class in the country according to the 247 Composite Team rankings with a solid number of 19 commitments. One area that needs improvement is at the wide receiver position, as the Irish have just one player committed in Amorion Walker. It’s estimated that the Irish will take up to four receivers this cycle.
One of their top targets left on the board has announced that he will make his commitment known on August 7. That player is 4-Star C.J. Williams from Mater Dei High School in California. Williams is a top 100 player, and the 11th ranked WR in the country.
Per a press release from CBS Sports:
July 26, 2021 – CBS Sports HQ, the 24/7 streaming sports news network, has seen an array of elite football prospects make their college commitments live on air during recruiting season, with four additional top prospects set to make commitments on the network in the coming days.
College commitments have been strong drivers of viewership for CBS Sports HQ, with the recent commitment of five-star defensive lineman and 2021 No. 3 national recruit J.T. Tuimoloau to Ohio State on July 4 placing among the top five peak viewership moments on CBS Sports HQ in 2021.
The four elite prospects soon making their decisions live on CBS Sports HQ include:
Monday at 3 PM, ET: Four-star cornerback - 2022 No. 281 recruit Cam Miller (Air Force, Penn State, Virginia Tech)
Wednesday at 5 PM, ET: Four-star linebacker - 2022 No. 131 recruit Sebastian Cheeks (Michigan, UNC-Chapel Hill, Oregon, Texas)
Thursday at 3 PM, ET: Four-star safety - 2022 No. 210 recruit Cristian Driver - son of former NFL wide receiver Donald Driver (Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Penn State)
August 7: Four-star wide receiver - 2022 No. 87 recruit C.J. Williams (Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, USC)
The Irish aren’t just in need of numbers at wide receiver, they’re in need of playmakers as well. In C.J. Williams, Notre Dame would get both if he picks the Irish.
