DECADE OF HINISH!

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish kicked off what looks to be a very busy recruiting month with a commitment from 3-Star Defensive Tackle, Donovan Hinish.

The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native is (of course) the younger brother of current Irish defensive tackle Kurt Hinish, and he held offers from a handful of programs like the Pittsburgh Panthers, Virginia Tech Hokies, UCF Knights, and more.

The eldest Hinish had some things to say about Donovan this past spring:

“All the coaches, they are always joking around with me and talking about stuff like he’s better than I am. We’re about the same size, if not, he might be just an inch or two taller than I am, give or take. I think he’s about 275 right now. My dad’s got him in the gym working out, putting some weight on and he looks really good.

“One thing that my younger brother does a lot better than I do is that, just naturally, he’s a lot more athletic than I am laterally. He’s kind of a better all-around athlete than me. I kind of got the (EDIT) end of the stick. It is what it is. The youngest gets it all. He’s gonna be a really good ballplayer wherever he chooses to go. I hope it’s here. But yeah, he’s doing really well. He’s gonna be a great player in the future.”

Hinish is the 14th commitment of the 2022 recruiting class — a class that is firmly ranked #4 in the country by the 247 Composite Team Rankings.

Notre Dame is expecting a big month from the June visit list, and to start filling some of the roster gaps. Hinish is the 4th defensive lineman in this class, but the only defensive tackle so far. Notre Dame would like to add another defensive end and another defensive tackle before everything ends on signing day.

Look... I don’t care about the “just a 3-Star” bullshit from others. This is a Hinish, and I’d take one every year if it was possible. The good news for me (and you) is that we may now be blessed with a decade of Hinish hijinks. I’m excited.

FIST PUMPS UP FOR DONOVAN!
