It will be the first time since 2018 (another ACC / Big 10 Challenge) that the Irish and Illini will play on the hardwood. This, however, is a series that has a decent amount of history.
Notre Dame and Illinois have played 42 times in the past, with the Illini holding a strong 27-15 advantage over the Irish. The two played almost every year between 1957 and 1973. Those games were always played in Chicago Stadium, and Illinois’ last trip to Notre Dame in 2018 was the first since 1955.
The Irish beat Illinois the last two times they played; 2015, 84-79 and 2018, 76-74.
The Irish are 4-4 overall in the ACC / Big 10 Challenge since joining the league. Their last win came in 2018 against Illinois, and have dropped the last two games overall.
No set date has been announced.
