Local to the Detroit area? Here’s an event you might want to check out! In a press release from the Holtz’s Heroes Foundation last week: The Holtz’s Heroes Foundation is pleased to announce a not-for-profit charity basketball game and day of activities on June 5, 2021. The basketball game and other events will be held at Life Remodeled’s Durfee Innovation Society Community Center.
The central event in this day of community outreach, is a basketball game scheduled between Detroit Police personnel, playing against former Notre Dame football players who played under long-time coach, Lou Holtz.
“The basketball game and other activities are a means to reach out to people, specifically children, from disenfranchised communities,” stated Tom Galloway, President of Holtz’s Heroes. “We’re looking to promote genuine connections between the people who serve these communities and those who often feel the most underserved. We see this as a wonderful opportunity for education and learning, wrapped in a day of fun and entertainment.”
“The Holtz’s Heroes charity basketball game is a great opportunity for the youth in our community to participate in meaningful relationship building with positive role models,” said Chris Lambert, Founder and CEO of Life Remodeled. “By bringing together Notre Dame Athletics alumni, Detroit law enforcement and students from the Durfee Innovation Society, we’re breaking down barriers and bringing together a group who can learn a lot from one another.” Together with you.
The event is scheduled to run from 12:00pm till 4:00pm. Durfee Innovation Center is located at 2470 Collingwood Street in Detroit, MI.
