Notre Dame Football News: Irish and Arkansas update their series

A COVID-forced change to the schedule

Florida v Arkansas

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish continue to release more and more news concerning their future football schedules. Today, that news is about an updated date with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame Football has announced schedule updates to the home-and-home series with the University of Arkansas. The first meeting will take place Sept. 27, 2025 at Arkansas, as originally scheduled. The second installment of the series will occur Sept. 16, 2028, with Notre Dame as the host, replacing the 2020 meeting.

The Irish have not played the Razorbacks in program history. Against SEC teams, Notre Dame has won at an all-time clip of 29-20-0*.

The two programs were slated to hold the inaugural meeting as the 2020 season-opener, but instead played a conference-only schedule last fall, with Notre Dame playing 2020 as a member of the ACC.

The two programs have a common former head coach in Lou Holtz, who earned a 60-21-2 record over seven seasons in Fayetteville (1977-83). He became the head coach at Notre Dame in 1986, amassing a 100-30-2 record through 11 seasons (1986-96).

* Includes one loss (during 2012-13) later vacated by NCAA discretionary penalty
