The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will, once again, take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully, we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2021 season.

#44 Devin Aupiu, DE

Devin Aupiu was an early enrollee this past winter. He comes to the team from Oxnard, California. Aupiu originally committed to UCLA but then flipped his commitment to Notre Dame back in December of last year. As a 3-star, Devin is a solid player coming out of high school. His recruitment showed him as a linebacker, but he is going to be utilized as a Defensive End on Mike Elston’s line. This process of eventually coming to Notre Dame was quick - he was offered in November, committed in December, and started classes at Notre Dame in February. A whirlwind of 2 months for him, but I’m sure he welcomed it.

Restaurant That Fits

Toppers Pizza

This is a relatively local pizza place in Oxnard, CA. It is the #2-rated restaurant in Oxnard. A great pizza place from a city in Cali where Devin Aupiu is from. Let’s ride with Toppers here.

2021 Outlook

Aupiu just started his time at Notre Dame almost four months ago, and he has only participated in one spring for the football team. He needs some time to develop of course. The defensive end position has huge shoes to fill with Daelin Hayes being drafted this year. There is other experience at DE, but Devin might find a way to help that positon this year if called upon by Marcus Freeman and Mike Elston.
