Five old Notre Dame Football photos for a Friday — It’s Pitt

It’s still Friday somewhere — just not in Pittsburgh

It’s been almost a month, so I really wanted to get this up earlier... but shirt happens.

Happy Friday everyone! I have access to thousands and thousands of Notre Dame Fighting Irish photos, and will never use a small fraction of those on this site. The thing is though — I want to, and I’m going to give it a solid shot as a way to bless the beginning of the weekend throughout the offseason.

The Homefield news today had my mind turning about Pitt because of their very good looking collection, so let’s lean into Pitt eating shit.

A Devine thing

One of the very first (oldest) photo that came up, was this beauty of Dan Devine. I believe this was sometime before the 1976 beatdown by Pitt (strong guess).

Here’s a legend

Ross Browner doesn’t get talked about nearly enough by Irish fans. One of the fun stories about Lou Somogyi was his passionate reverence for Ross Browner.

Lost and winning

Here’s a savage pic of Gerry Faust looking lost in the Steel City, but still managing to direct his team towards a 31-16 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Making a legend

This is the first touchdown reception for Jeff Samardzija in 2005 — and for his career. This game is what helped The Shark make himself one of the all-time greats for the Irish on his way 2,266 yards and 27 touchdowns

Another Faust era pic

I have a chance to put Blair Kiel in this post, so I’m putting Blair Kiel in this post. Quick sidenote... always remember the Faust era when anyone starts complaining about anything when it comes to the Notre Dame uniforms. Or, I suppose, you can pull that era for almost anything to smack someone in the face. It’s all very legal (maybe).
