Former Notre Dame Tailback Autry Denson Publishes Book

Running By Faith: Two-Minute Devotionals with Eternal Impact

Autry Denson

Autry Denson and I connected two years ago through a mutual Notre Dame friend to talk book writing. He wanted to pick my brain about a project he was working on, and I wanted to pick his brain about a project I was working on. Well, his project is complete and will be available for purchase today, Thursday, May 20th.

Former Notre Dame tailback Autry Denson has just published his book, “Running By Faith: Two-Minute Devotionals with Eternal Impact.”

He sent me this note earlier this week ...

“I’m so excited! My book, “Running By Faith: Two-Minute Devotionals with Eternal Impact” is going to be released May 20th. During the first 24-48 hours of its launch, we will be offering it for a super special rate, so mark the date on your calendar and watch for my posts with the link to get this special rate! In celebration of this release I want to share why I’m excited about this powerful book launch.

In this fast-paced, pressure-filled world, Christians everywhere are finding it harder than ever to carve out personal time with Jesus Christ. If family commitments and work deadlines aren’t enough, there’s the constant barrage of news and information that has taken center stage with the rise of social media. As a result, God placed this book on my heart for the purpose of bringing His unchanging, infallible word to the ever-changing circumstances of our daily lives. My prayer is that after you read this book, you will be encouraged to use your daily, God ordained platforms to run this race we call life by faith in God’s good and perfect plan.”

In the event that you aren’t on social media, I will add the purchasing info in a comment below as soon as I get my hands on it, so stay tuned! It will be available for $1.99 during the first 24-48 of its launch, so if you’re interested, it’s a great time to grab it (and maybe a second one as a gift)!

I love this snippet from Autry Denson from the Strong and True campaign - 125 Years of Notre Dame Football. Autry talks about what Notre Dame is really about, and that there is no other place like Notre Dame.

Currently, Autry is the head coach at Charleston Southern University. Autry was named the Charleston Southern head football coach in January 2019. He became the fifth CSU head football coach in program history. He came to the Buccaneers after coaching stops at Notre Dame, South Florida, Miami (Ohio), and Bethune-Cookman.

(From CSUsports.com) Denson’s first season at the helm of the Bucs finished on a strong note with CSU winning five of their final six games of the 2019 season to post a 6-6 overall record. The Bucs turned it on down the stretch with key wins over Gardner-Webb, Hampton (OT), Presbyterian, and Campbell over the final month of the season as the Bucs posted a 4-2 mark in Big South play and a 3-2 record inside Buccaneer Field. Denson recorded his first collegiate win as a head coach on October 5 against Savannah State (24-19).

Among the season highlights for the Buccaneers included posting 12 players on the Big South All-Conference teams, including the Special Teams (Alex Usry) and Defensive Freshman (Cody Cline) of the year. Overall, the Bucs posted 11 total Big South Player of the Week nods, while Ethan Ray earned STATS FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week honors following the Nov. 2 contest at Gardner-Webb.

The Bucs also set the Big South record for team sacks (35.0), while Shaundre Mims set the CSU individual single season record with 10.0 sacks. CSU added conference statistical champions in individual tackles for loss, field goals made, punting average, and fumbles recovered.

Denson came to the Buccaneers after four seasons as the running backs coach at Notre Dame after taking on the role in 2015. His success in the role helped guide the Fighting Irish to the FBS College Football Playoffs and a berth at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic.

Denson and his wife Elaine have four children: Ashley, Autry, Elijah, and Asia.
