Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Iowa tight end Eli Raridon commits to the Irish

Here’s a tight end they really want

Over the Blue-Gold game weekend, 3-Star tight end Eli Raridon gave his commitment to Notre Dame. The 6’6” 228 pounder from West Des Moines, Iowa, chose the Irish over a strong offer list that included the Iowa Hawkeyes, Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, Florida State Seminoles, and many more.

The Irish have had little trouble in tight end recruiting over the years as Tight End U, and that seems to be really important to Raridon — to be developed for the next level. We just saw Tommy Tremble drafted this weekend and Brock Wright sign a free agent deal with the Lions — and then there are guys like Michael Mayer, George Takacs, and even early enrollee Mitchell Evans that are ready to help the Irish in 2021.

According Raridon’s high school coach, Gary Swenson, Eli will be ready to contribute at Notre Dame:

“Let’s face it. He’s going to be a matchup issue from a length standpoint,” coach Swenson said. “He’s still got some work to do on the route running because he’s just not had to do it. But he’ll be fine. That’s where being a basketball player is such a huge advantage for us because his footwork is so good. He’s pretty light on his feet. He knows how to cut.

“At that level, a level like Notre Dame…I would anticipate that he’s going to be able to help them, and I think earlier than later in his time there. He’ll get on the field and he’ll play.”

Raridon is the twelfth commitment for Notre Dame’s 2022 class — which is what they recently just had before tight end Jack Nickel decommitted. Currently the Irish have the #4 recruiting class in the country according to the 247 Team Composite Rankings.

Recruiting is going to really blow up here soon once official visits get going again in June. At tight end, the Irish would love to add one more to its class, and that ONE is 4-Star Holden Staes from Atlanta.

Raridon is a solid pick up for the Irish and one that they really pushed hard for. Yes, there’s the legacy thing with his father Scott (recruiting class of 2003) but mostly it’s because he has a very high ceiling with the talent already in place.

It’s a good one — FIST PUMPS UP FOR ELI!
