On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have signed former Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive end Jamir Jones.

On March 31, Jamir Jones participated in Notre Dame’s pro day as he and a few other former Notre Dame players came back to put their talent on display for NFL personnel. One of those NFL guys in attendance was Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

Jones was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent last year, but was eventually released from the organization in the summer.

Jamir will join his older brother Jarron in the Steelers organization. Jarron is on the practice team right now as an offensive lineman. While Jamir played defensive end at Notre Dame, he started out his career as a linebacker, and that’s where the Steelers will place him right away.

Good luck to Jamir as he continues to work for his dream of playing in the NFL in the Steel City.
