NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns Draft Notre Dame LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

Owusu-Koramoah drops surprisingly to Round Two.

The Cleveland Browns selected Notre Dame Fighting Irish linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah as the 52nd overall pick in the NFL Draft.

His first round selection is the culmination of a collegiate journey that started on National Signing Day as a three-star prospect and blossomed into an unanimous All-American and Butkus Award winner.

Owusu-Koramoah’s rookie contract will be worth $6.47 million, with just over $2 million coming as a signing bonus. That’s according to OverTheCap.com.

Owusu-Koramoah, in two seasons, had 142 tackles (13 12 for loss), seven sacks and seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles (and three recoveries, including one for a touchdown) and an interception. He was the fourth linebacker selected, behind Micah Parsons (No. 12 to the Dallas Cowboys); Zaven Collins (No. 16 to the Arizona Cardinals); and Jamin Davis (No. 19 to the Washington Football Team).

NFL.com graded the talented linebacker as “a year one quality starter.” The 6.82 rating (out of 8) is its eighth highest ranking among all 2021 NFL Draft eligible players.

The Browns are no strangers to pick No. 52 — and to selecting Notre Dame players there. The football team from Forest City chose DeShone Kizer in this exact position during the 2017 draft.

Owusu-Koramoah is a graduate of Bethel High School in Hampton, Va. You can read more about the Browns at our SB Nation site, Dawgs by Nature.
