A Football Scoop report states that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have hired John Aylward , a former Houston Texans assistant coach, as an analyst.

Aylward was with the Texans for the past two years and as an intern the year before — while he was playing on offense for the Division II St. Anslem Hawks football team.
In a bio from the Tewksbury Town Crier about Aylward’s hire by the Texans, a fun paragraph included inside:
“Before attending St. Anselm, Aylward spent a year at Williston Northampton Prep. As the team’s quarterback, he led the Wildcats Football team to the NEPSAC Championship Bowl, losing a heartbreaker, 35-34, despite playing with a dislocated elbow throughout the entire second half of the season, including the Bowl Game.”
Notre Dame has yet to announce the hiring — and given that it took several months to announce Chad Bowden’s addition to the Irish staff — we shouldn’t expect anything too soon.
Notre Dame has continually added to its football staff over the years as it tries to keep pace with the Alabama’s and Clemson’s of the world.
Good for them.
