A little less than a month ago, Notre Dame Fighting Irish wide receiver Micah Jones announced that he was putting his name in the transfer portal. On Wednesday, he finally announced where his next destination was going to be to end his career. Jones is headed back to his home state to play for the Illinois State Redbirds in the FCS level.

Jones was part of the 2018 Notre Dame football recruiting class as a 4-Star player from Warren Township in Illinois. Despite his incredible physique and frame at 6’5” and 220 pounds, Jones only saw playing time in 5 games during his time in South Bend.
Jones will graduate from Notre Dame in May with his Bachelors degree and will have 3 years of eligibility at Illinois State.
The 2018 class has seen 9 players enter their names in the transfer portal during their time at Notre Dame. Only Houston Griffith has come back into the fold. That class had 27 commitments and was ranked #10 in the country by the 247 Team Composite.
