Adam Shibley played linebacker for the Michigan Wolverines in 2020, but will transfer to play linebacker for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2021 according to his Instagram post.
Shibley is a Cleveland native (St. Ignatius) is a former walk-on for the Wolverines as part of the 2017 recruiting class. He earned a scholarship while in Ann Arbor and started the final two games at linebacker for Michigan in 2020. In all, he saw action in 5 games last season and tallied 20 tackles with 2 TFL.
According to Eric Hansen, Shibley will walk-on for the Irish this fall as he pursues his Master’s degree in the Mendoza College of Business.
Notre Dame still doesn’t have a massive amount of numbers at linebacker for 2021, so even as a walk-on, Shibley has a chance to earn a role with the Irish. Even if that role is mostly on special teams, I know a certain former #45 that would greatly approve of him fulfilling that dream.
