Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS Virginia Tech Hokies: Betting Lines

And here we are. Unfortunately, we’re now experiencing something we haven’t experienced in almost 2 full years - the week after a Notre Dame Fighting Irish regular season loss. The Irish decidedly looked confused against Cincinnati with a confusing game plan and not as much energy as the Bearcats provided. Because of that, the Irish definitely did not cover even as 2-point underdogs. The under hit on the point total as well. However, we move ahead to a new game where the Irish will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in a new weekend with some different betting lines.

ND vs VT Betting Lines

The Irish and the Hokies will square off in a game played at night at Lane Stadium (I know how the VT fans LOVE to get riled up for these night games and their song). As of right now, the Irish hold onto being the favorite by the narrowest of margins. The Irish are 1-point favorites in this game against VT. But, at -115 on the moneyline, they still are the betting favorites as for now. The Hokies are at -105, so they aren’t that much of an underdog. This game is close to being a pickem game.

I can understand why this is the case. The Hokies beat a ranked UNC in the first game of the season, but they lost to West Virginia two weeks later. They are underperforming a bit from what we might see. The Irish are also coming off a loss to Cinci, so confidence has waned, thus the point spread being what it is. Additionally, the point total is set at 47 flat. That is a bit lower than we see, and it is about the point total set for the ND-Wisconsin game from a couple weeks ago.

Well, Oddsshark has this as a razor thin game. Their prediction based on their metrics is that the Hokies win by about 1 point. They also predict the over to hit. That site also provides some trends for us, such as the Irish being 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games played in Week 6. In the last 6 times the Irish were favorites, the over has hit 4 of those times. Additionally, the Hokies are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games.

Whether or not you follow some of these trends, I gotta go with a bounce back win for the Irish. I think this will be close, maybe anywhere from a 3 to 7-point victory. Additionally, I like the over in this game. The Hokies will look to score especially with their home crowd in a night game. The over could hit in a score like 28-24, so I’ll stick with the over.

DAMHSA BUA Count

The total on that definitely went under last week, much to our dismay. I will set the total at 3.5 for DAMHSA BUAs on Saturday? Will it be more or fewer touchdowns than that on Saturday for the Irish. Let us know about that in the poll and about the betting lines in general in the comments below.
