Notre Dame Football: Irish bowl projections after week 8 of the college season

A handful of very familiar foes

NCAA Football: Cheez-It Bowl-Texas Christian vs California Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The season is rapidly moving along, and after seven games, the Notre Dame Fighting are 6-1 and ranked #11 in both polls. There are a lot of years where teams with that record, and that ranking, at this point in the season are certainly in striking range of a college football playoff berth. To be honest — I’m not exactly sure how this wild season ends up affecting the scenario one way or another.

Regardless, an 11-1 Irish team is at least bound for a New Years Six bowl game, and even at 10-2 there is still a fair chance.

How do the “experts” see this shaking out? Let’s take a look.

This Saturday’s college football slate will be the last one this season without college football playoff rankings. Those will be released on November 2, and after another week of games and those rankings, the picture might become a little clearer.
