In October of 2019, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish received back-to-back commitments from elite wide receivers in Lorenzo Styles and Deion Colzie. It was a HUGE win for the Irish that was underappreciated at the time — until Colzie decided to decommit from the Irish in March.
It looked like a huge loss for the Irish, but Del Alexander and the Notre Dame staff continued to recruit Deion as hard as ever. They didn’t just take their “L” and walk away. Will that hard work pay off? Well, we’re going to find out very soon.
On Thursday, Colzie took to Twitter and announced a commitment date for September 28.

Notre Dame’s competition is pretty stiff. Colzie has offers from all the top programs across the country, but specifically his home state Georgia Bulldogs have seemed to be the clubhouse leader for a while now (Colzie goes to the same school as Kirby Smart’s kids). The Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Ole Miss Rebels are also in the mix.
For the last few weeks the vibes about Colzie re-committing to Notre Dame have felt better and better, and the Irish are now in a great spot to get him back in the 2021 class. Never forget that his mother is a huge fan of Notre Dame, and has openly stated she wants him in South Bend.
That’s a good thing.
So, mark the 28th on the calendar and we will see if Notre Dame can get this blue-chip player to come on back.
According to the 247 Composite, Colzie is the 14th ranked WR and the 114th ranked player overall.
