Honestly... I haven’t seen this kind of freak out from Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans since the Ian Book rumor a couple of years ago. Reddit users caught a glimpse of what the ticket and attendance policy will be for Notre Dame football games this season, and our friends at Her Loyal Sons posted it for everyone to see on Twitter.
Looks like ND football attendance will be ND community only (students, faculty, and staff). Makes sense.— Her Loyal Sons (@herloyalsons) August 30, 2020

First saw via ND subreddit on our end.
Looks like the reddit mobile browser changed it. Here you go (multiple tweets incoming) pic.twitter.com/u1e07VX4ts— Her Loyal Sons (@herloyalsons) August 30, 2020
Here’s who may attend Irish home games via a ticket in the simplest of terms:
- Parents of Notre Dame’s players
- Parents of opponent’s players
Did you really think it was going to be different?
For months; this site, the OFD Podcast, and a long list of other Notre Dame outlets have all but spoonfed this information to fans. And yet... my email, direct messages, texts, and mentions were littered with people that — at the very least — seemed surprised.
As of late Sunday night the link is still not “fixed” and Notre Dame hasn’t officially announced anything, but I highly doubt there will be any difference once they do announce (except for changing “expectations” to “exemptions”).
Again... I was surprised that so many people seemed surprised. I was present for Notre Dame’s Zoom meeting with the media about gameday policies and procedures for this year, which are very strict. Coverage from that perspective will be very bare bones. They are very committed to making a season possible, and are doing whatever they think is necessary to deflect as much risk as possible.
So, friend to friend, what were you expecting?
What kind of attendance policy were you expecting for ND football games in 2020?
