The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets announced Thursday that this year’s game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take place at Bobby Dodd Stadium instead of the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
That game, originally scheduled for Nov. 14, may be played on a different date. The ACC announced Wednesday that Notre Dame would be a part of its 10-game conference season as a full member, but did not announce any dates.
This change does not impact those who purchased Georgia Tech season tickets to get access to the Notre Dame game, but Atlanta Falcons season ticket holders will be given a refund for the game instead of getting comparable tickets at Bobby Dowd.
This announcement also did not modify a previously-scheduled appearance between the two teams at the Falcons’ home set for Oct. 19, 2024. Tech, however, has agreed to extend its agreement with AMB Sports + Entertainment, controllers of the NFL stadium, to 2026.
Besides the Notre Dame game, the Yellow Jackets will play the Clemson Tigers on Sept. 5, 2022. All other dates and opponents are to be announced.
The Irish have played the Yellow Jackets 15 times in Atlanta, with the most recent appearance at Bobby Dodd in 2006. In the Sept. 2 season opener, the second-ranked Irish beat their hosts, 14-10.
