The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2020 season.
#98 Alexander Ehrensberger
Next up for the Irish is considered a project, though this one has some HUGE potential. Ehrensberger is incredibly raw, but has the frame, mindset, and work ethic for his raw skills to come to fruition. He stands 6’7 and clocks in around 245 with a huge wingspan. He also has an 8 pack, which is pretty neat. I only was able to gather a few words from below, but check out his workout tape.....It shows a ton of athleticism and a body type that can fill out even more.
Was this a given? Probably. But I will say the ferocity in which he works out reminded me of watching Pumping Iron, and absolute Arnold classic. Also, any time I can use the skills of our very own writer, Brendan McAlinden, I do.
Most likely (definitely) a redshirt. He has great potential but is being seen as a project due to his raw skills and lack of competition he faced in Germany. He will have great guys in front of him to learn from, and a massive ceiling. I can see the coaches getting him on some special teams units this year, though definitely not more than the 4 games. He could be used on in the middle to block kicks with that giant wingspan. The future will be incredibly interesting and I cannot wait to see how the coaches develop this impressive young man.
