The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2020 season.
#84 Kevin Bauman, TE
This freshman is hoping to make an impact and heads to South Bend from Red Bank, New Jersey. The tight end makes the 247sports.com ranks as the no. 240 player in the nation and as the no. 6 tight end in the nation. Bauman represented Red Bank Catholic High School on USA Today Network’s 2019 first-team All-New Jersey and in the 2020 Polynesian Bowl.
Bauman chose the Irish over the Michigan Wolverines, Boston College Eagles, North Carolina Tar Heels, and many others.
Good frame with natural strength and size. Tracks the ball well. Has great hands. Can catch ball in traffic and make tough play. Uses his body well to shield defenders. Possession receiver with ability to find holes in zone. Gets off line of scrimmage well. Good blocker. Strong in lower body. Blocks with low base. Needs to be quicker getting out of breaks. Has to tighten route running. Adding speed to get down the seam is important. Multi-year starter at Power 5 program. Likely develops into an NFL free agent.
As a high school senior, Bauman chalked up 35 receptions for 687 yards and 10 touchdowns and four tackles.

Because, Jersey.
2020 Outlook
The size and the blocking are both there. However, Bauman will need to keep the focus on his speed if he wants to make an impact. For now, it’s all about proving himself.
