The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2020 season.

#99 Rylie Mills, DE

We’re back on the player profiles at One Foot Down, and today’s spotlight is on freshman defensive end Rylie Mills. As a high school senior, this Lake Bluff, Illinois native chalked up 45 tackles and five sacks in only seven games. He also represented Lake Forest High School on the 2019 News-Gazette All-State football team.

Mills makes the 247sports.com ranks as the no. 164 player in the nation, the no. 8 strong-side defensive end in the nation and the no. 4 player out of Illinois.

Wayne Gretzky

We have some epic hair on the most current roster, and Mills is no exception. He wears no. 99 on the back of his jersey, much like NHL great Wayne Gretzky. Also like Gretzky, Mills has golden locks you just can’t ignore.

2020 Outlook

Like any freshman, this defensive end will have to adapt to new surroundings. Mills’s 6’4” ½, 250 lb. frame will be an Irish advantage, though he does have room for #gainz. He has the size and the speed, but he can only expect to make an impact if he keeps the focus on conditioning.
