Kind of an update

As things begin to open up more and more across the country, fans of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have ramped up the discussion about how the season will look. Will there be fans in the stadium? Will it be the full 12 game schedule? Will the Irish and Navy Midshipmen still travel to Dublin, Ireland to kickoff the season on August 29?

The Irish Times posted an article the other day that said a decision should be expected by next week for the Emerald Isle Classic.

Navy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuck Jr. has given a fairly optimistic view over the last several months, while Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick has played the more cautious route with a wait-and-see approach.

As Jude has clearly pointed out several times on the OFD Podcast, the biggest issue concerning any type of announcement is most likely due to the financial situation and contracts.

I think the vast majority of Notre Dame fans believe the game be moved back to the United States, but whether that will be in Annapolis, MetLife Stadium — or wherever — is hard to say. If Notre Dame and Navy do announce a move next week, we should also probably expect the announcement of where and when the game will ultimately be played this season.
