In the second round and with the 43rd pick overall in the NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears selected Notre Dame Fighting Irish tight end Cole Kmet.
Notre Dame TE Cole Kmet, good fit at a need spot for the Bears.

Kmet was widely considered to be the best tight end in the draft, but a huge run on wide receivers and a lack of other good tight ends helped push Kmet back a few spots (and because the Patriots did Patriot things).
Bear fans should be quite familiar with Kmet — and he’s quite familair with them. Chicago was Kmet’s favorite team as a kid, growing up not too far from Chicago.
With the No. 43 overall pick, the @ChicagoBears select @NDFootball TE Cole Kmet!

This is the first Notre Dame player selected in this year’s draft, and it keeps a strong streak going of Notre Dame starting tight ends being drafted in the first two rounds of the NFL Draft (11th all-time in the first 2 rounds for ND).
