Notre Dame Football Recruiting: 3-Star offensive lineman Pat Coogan commits to the Irish

Despite the difficulties of recruiting right now because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish picked up a commitment from 3-Star offensive lineman Pat Coogan on Wednesday.

The Chicago native chose the Irish over a long list of schools like the LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Missouri Tigers, and others. The “others” go from coast to coast — which makes Coogan a big-time national prospect.

The Irish recently had a “decommitment” from Greg Crippen, but the worst kept secret in the 2021 class is that Notre Dame had long changed their mind about Crippen. So, if you’re a person that values recruiting stars more than anything else, just know that Notre Dame wanted Coogan — NOT Crippen.

Coogan’s commitment gives the Irish 8 players in the class of 2021 so far. BTW - Tyler Buchner was elevated to a 5-Star 247 Composite player, but remains a 4-Star within all of the other rankings.

The class is currently ranked #5 according to the 247 Composite Team Rankings.
