With a shootout win on Friday night, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey team was back on the ice Saturday to finish their series against the Penn State Nittany Lions. Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead before allowing Penn State to tie it late, but the Irish managed to find their way back on top and finished with their second win of the weekend.
First Period
Notre Dame got on the board first with a short handed goal. An errant pass from Penn State in the offensive zone made it all the way down the ice. Cam Morrison beat everybody down the ice where he picked up the puck and beat Peyton Jones for the lead. Notre Dame doubled the lead later in the period when Cal Burke carried the puck from just outside the defensive zone down the ice, beating Penn State defenders and sliding the puck past Jones five-hole.
Speed kills.

In the third period Penn State ultimately tied the game at 2. With five minutes left in the game Spencer Stastney sent a breakout pass that found Graham Slaggert behind the defense. Slaggert went into the offensive zone on a breakaway and scored for the 3-2 lead. With 1 minute left Tory Dello sealed the win with an empty net goal from the Irish defensive zone.
