After game one all the way to a shootout, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey team was back on the ice to finish their series against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Scoring was hard to come by, as Notre Dame only managed one goal while Minnesota scored their only two goals in the 3rd period for the win.
First Period
The first twenty minutes of the game passed without much consequence. Notre Dame managed only one shot on goal and while Minnesota took 15 none made it past Cale Morris.
Second Period
Just before the midway point of the second period the Irish finally broke through for their goal. Nick Leivermann carried the puck through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone before letting a shot go from the faceoff circle. The puck beat Minnesota goalie Jack LaFontaine five-hole for the 1-0 lead.
