On Sunday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish learned their postseason fate a day after they lost control of their own destiny — and it’s fine. Notre Dame will play the Alabama Crimson Tide in what was once called the Rose Bowl, but is now being played at Jerry’s World in Dallas.

There was plenty of debate when it comes to the Irish and the #5 ranked Texas A&M Aggies, but compared resume to resume — the committee liked Notre Dame just a little better.
The #3 Ohio State Buckeyes and #2 Clemson Tigers will play in the Sugar Bowl as a rematch from last year’s playoff semifinal game. OSU only needed to play 6 games to make the playoffs this season, and as stupid as that sounds — and it’s incredibly dumb — it does mean that ANY talk about conference championship games being a big advantage over Notre Dame is now a dead point.
RIP 13th data point.
The other two teams in the debate of the top six were the Oklahoma Sooners and Cincinnati Bearcats. Oklahoma has 2 losses and Cincy is undefeated.
More to come....
