The Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost another scholarship player to the transfer portal when defensive end Kofi Wardlow announced that he will graduate in the fall and then move on with his career.

“After deliberate consultation with my family, I have decided that it is in my best interest to enter the transfer portal,” wrote Wardlow on his personal Twitter account. “I want to thanks Coach Kelly, Coach Elston, Coach Lea, the strength coaches, athletic trainers, support staff and The University of Notre Dame for their suport of my sources. I have greatly enjoyed my time playing for the Irish, and the community and relationships I have formed here will always be special to me. This environment allowed me to grow athletically, academically and personally, and for that I will always be grateful. Most importantly, I will be graduating this fall with my bachelor’s degree from a university I love and respect. With the knowledge and skills I have acquired in these past four years, I am excited to continue this growth on my next adventure.

Thank you Irish Nation.
Love Thee
Kofi Wardlow.”

Wardlow has been a career backup since his arrival to Notre Dame from Washington D.C. in 2017. He was a late commitment in the 2017 class, and was casted as a typical “3-star project” by insiders.

While it never worked out for Kofi on the field, he was able to get the job done in the classroom and will leave Notre Dame with his degree in hand.

Congratulations, and good luck!
