The Notre Dame Fighting Irish tip off their 2020-2021 season tonight against Big 10 foe, the Michigan State Spartans. It’s been over 8 months since we last saw the Irish in action, and none of the normal pre-season stuff went down this year due to covid-19.
Mike Brey will put an experienced group of veterans on on the floor with:
- Prentiss Hubb G
- Dane Goodwin G
- Cormac Ryan G
- Juwan Durham F
- Nate Laszewski F

They will also use Nikola Djogo off the bench (also named a captain), but typically Brey’s bench is short so don’t expect much more. Then again... Brey wants a more uptempo team, and wants to run:
“We’re really good when we run. We’re trying to play faster. We’ve played quicker, really starting last year. Can we get some rebounds and get out and get some buckets?”
The Spartans are always a tough team — if not already one of the best in the nation. Tom Izzo’s squad comes into tonight’s game as the #13 team in the country. Despite losing some great players like Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman, Sparty always recruits well and has also added Marquette transfer Joey Hauser.
