Hiatus from Listening to Petey Pablo This Week
Folks, after a cheeseburger bye week and after the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were ranked #2 in the season’s first CFP rankings, the Irish will be playing a game again. It is on a Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I can’t stand that we have to play on any day but Saturday, but at least they will play. The Irish travel to Chapel Hill, NC to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. This game is the second-most intriguing game of the Notre Dame season. Because it is showing to be a bit more interesting, the betting lines reflect that. Let’s take a look at how the Irish and Tar Heels square up in relation to the lines.
ND vs UNC Betting Lines
Except for the game against Clemson where they were underdogs, the Irish have been double-digit favorites in every game this season up to this point. That is no more, as the Irish currently sit as a 5-point favorite over the home team UNC.

The total for the game is pretty high, set at O/U 68. Additionally, the Irish are a closer favorite based on odds. With the moneyline set at -195 for the Irish and +155 for UNC, odds are showing that UNC has a good shot to win. That could be from the explosive offense they have led by their dynamic QB, Sam Howell.
Oddsshark shows this game being extremely close. They essentially predict the Irish winning about 40-39. Additionally, the trends are showing that the OVER has hit more times than not in both teams’ recent games. Both offenses have been firing on all cylinders recently. The past two games the Irish defense has also given up 31+ points, which is a bit uncharacteristic. That was against Clemson and then right before a bye week. UNC also averages around 43 points per game.
Matty G’s Prediction
I think something is going to give, and I stand by the strength of the Irish defense. I think both teams do score a fair amount, but the Irish can still take this one. The running backs have rested up, and the wide receivers got into stride right before the bye week. Even with a couple of starting OLs are out of the game, there is still a quality, veteran line. I think the Irish cover the spread - it might be 7-10 points, but I think they win by a full possession or more. Also, I can see the OVER hitting, but not by much. A 41-28 win is something I could see happening. I think UNC still gives us a game, but the Irish still stand to be too much.
Also, with the Irish offense clicking recently, I’m setting the O/U on TDs at 4.5. I predict 5 DAMHSA BUAs, so I can see that OVER hitting. What do you all think about the lines/spread? Vote in the DAMHSA BUA O/U poll and let us know in the comments your predictions about the spread.

Happy Thanksgiving. Go Irish. Beat Tar Heels.
