Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS Boston College Eagles: Football Betting Lines

Back to being a favorite

NCAA Football: Boston College at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

People, keep the Hype Train alive. We got another game.

OH BABY. I’m still absolutely reeling from Saturday night. I laughed, I yelled, I cheered, and I cried. Those emotions carry into today, and the strong will and talent of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish need to come out in full force again this coming week. The Irish did in fact beat the former #1 team in the Clemson Tigers, and it was euphoric. But, the Irish do take on the Boston College Eagles this coming Saturday afternoon. The Irish travel to Chestnut Hill, and many Irish fans have 1993 in the back of their minds this week. We will see former Notre Dame backup QB Phil Jurkovec start for BC, and it should be an interesting time.

With a new game comes new betting lines. This game has the betting lines that fall in line with the rest of the season outside of the Clemson game last week (side note: the Irish were underdogs, so they did cover; the OVER absolutely did hit, too). The Irish go back to being a double-digit favorite this coming Saturday. Let’s dive into it a bit more.

ND vs BC Betting Lines

This coming Saturday, the Irish currently sit at 13.5-point favorites. That, again, is a lot of points. It is a lot of points against a BC team that is 5-3 and that took Clemson down to the wire two weeks ago.

More of the early money is on Notre Dame to cover the spread, as you can see by the slightly worse odds if you take the Irish to win by two touchdowns or more. Additionally, the total for the game is at 49.5, and people seem to be looking to the OVER here. As you can see from Oddsshark, the Irish and the Eagles are both good at covering the spread in their most recent games. However, they are predicting that the Irish will outscore the Eagles by a fair amount.

Matty G’s Prediction

I see the spread, and it seems a bit too high for me. I think the Irish definitely have the capability to beat a team like BC. One look at how this past Saturday went and you could come up with that assumption. However, there are some weird history things involved with this game. There might be a bit of a letdown with the Irish, as they were probably gassed after the game on Saturday night. I’m not saying they will struggle, but they might need to get the cylinders firing after a warmup. Also, we all know what happened in 1993. Plus, Phil Jurkovec is starting for the Eagles, so that adds a layer of intrigue to this game.

With all of that, I see the Irish still continuing to roll and winning this game, but I can foresee a 7 or maybe even 10-point victory. It could be somewhat close, but also somewhat convincing. I’m predicting something like a 31-21 victory for the Irish. BC might score some, but the Irish still out-hustle and outscore the Eagles. Therefore, I see the OVER hitting here in this game as well. BC will look to score so they can play the spoiler. There might be some slip-ups, but the Clark Lea-led defense could still dominate.

We of course need to set the O/U on the DAMHSA BUA count. If you had the UNDER for that on Saturday, you actually would’ve been right in regulation. But, the OVER did hit for the whole game. This week, I am setting the O/U on TDs at 4.5. I think that will be just UNDER this week with 4 DAMHSA BUAs played. However, I would be PUMPED to get more and be wrong because I like a lot of touchdowns. Let me know in the poll and then in the comments about your takes on the lines and how the Irish respond in that context after the win over Clemson this past Saturday.
