Notre Dame Football: ESPN College Gameday is coming to South Bend for Clemson game

There’s a big game coming up

NCAA Football: Michigan at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

If there was one Notre Dame Fighting Irish game that we all knew was going to be big enough for ESPN’s College Gameday to show up at — it’s the showdown with the Clemson Tigers.

Currently, Clemson is ranked #1 and the Irish are #4 and I highly doubt that the rankings change on Sunday afternoon. It’s a top 5 showdown for sure, but... it may only be PART 1 for 2020 between Clemson and the Irish. The path is still very much there for Notre Dame and Clemson to meet again in the ACC Championship Game regardless of Saturday’s outcome.

The Tigers will be without star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but the best running back in college football is still on that team and his name is Travis Etienne. They struggled on Saturday against the Boston College Eagles and went down 18 points in the first half — but then shut Phil Jurkovec down in the second half on their way to a 34-28 win at home.

It SHOULD be a great one on Saturday, and Gameday’s involvement will only add to the already overwhelming hype for the matchup.
