The Chicago Blackhawks today selected Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team member Landon Slaggert in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft, 79th overall. The freshman has yet to play a game for the Irish, but will do so when the 2020-21 season begins.

Slaggert played the last two years for the United States National Team Development Program. Last season he totaled 24 points in 47 games for the under-18 team and an additional 10 points in 19 games in the USHL. As a third round pick Slaggert can be expected to suit up for the Irish for several seasons, as the Blackhawks now retain his rights until 2024.
If the name sounds familiar it should. Landon is a South Bend native and is the son of associate head coach Andy Slaggert and brother of junior forward Graham Slaggert. We’re looking forward to seeing the brothers on the ice together this season.
