The Big Ten Conference today announced a plan to return to play for the upcoming hockey season. The season will begin as soon as November 13, 2020 and will conclude March 18-21, 2021 with the Big Ten Tournament.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, like all Big Ten teams this season, will play a 24 game conference schedule as well as four games against the Arizona State Sun Devils, all at Big Ten venues. The full details of the schedule will be released at a later date, including broadcast details. The Big Ten also announced that the conference tournament will feature all seven conference teams and will be a single elimination format taking place over a single weekend.

The Big Ten hockey teams and Arizona State will all adhere to the same medical protocols announced on Sept. 16th for football and other fall sports, including daily antigen testing, enhanced cardiac screening, and an enhanced data-driven approach when making decisions about practice/competition.

The full press release can be found here. We will have more details as they’re released, but for now Go Irish and welcome back hockey!
