After another weekend of no football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, they remain #5 in both the Amway Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25.

There really wasn’t much of a realistic chance for Notre Dame to move up this week. The Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide flexed their muscles against conference foes, and are solidly where they should be right now. The Georgia Bulldogs easily put down the Auburn Tigers. Even if Auburn would have won that game, the Tigers would have jumped Notre Dame in the rankings — and rightfully so.
The wildcards remain the Pac-12 and Big 10 schools. They still have not played a game, but in a couple of weeks once they have a game in the books — they could be given greater consideration.
Clemson and the North Carolina Tar Heels are the only Irish opponents that are ranked inside the top 25.
What any of this actually means is debatable. The polls are generally just a guiding voice, but in 2020 they may mean even less than that.
Notre Dame will play the Florida State Seminoles this week in South Bend.
